Having worked for many years with some of Edinburgh's
finest and most successful architectural practices,
I decided to set up this practice in 2001 with a desire
to return to the roots of construction in domestic and
residential architecture.
In doing so my objective was to reduce architecture
to its simplest forms and produce solutions for my clients
that were joyful to be in and use, yet simple and cost
effective to construct.
As a practice we endeavour to place the aspirations
and requirements of our clients before our own. Being
a relatively new practice our early work has consisted
predominantly of domestic projects, to which we apply
our individual design and problem solving skills to
answer challenging programmes.
From this solid and ongoing platform we are expanding
into other areas; Residential, Commercial, Health and
Leisure. Our successes in these areas result from a
practical understanding of our Client's requirements
combined with those of the end-user.
Our commitment to our Clients and our ability to provide
successful designs and completed buildings has ensured
a continuing workload based upon personal referrals
and return commissions.
In line with this method of obtaining our commissions
we are also expanding geographically into other parts
of Scotland and the UK.
In the Project section we include some examples of
our completed and ongoing work. Many of these photographs
are taken during construction by my own hand and this,
unfortunately, is reflected in their appearance! These
illustrate our own interests in design and construction,
a modern fusion of traditional and contemporary which
utilises appropriate materials to respond to the individual
circumstances of both site and brief. Some projects
have been reported in the press and we include some
reports here also.
I include a brief summary of my experience to
date in the People section, together with a description
of personnel and how staffing responds to work
levels.
To clarify the process of employing an Architect,
the Services section includes a brief description
of the typical services that we provide for clients.
This section also breaks down these services into
digestible sizes or 'work stages' and explains
how we typically charge for these services when
relating to the work stages we complete.
Details of how we can be contacted together with
a map of our Edinburgh City centre location are
included in the Contacts section.
With an eye to the future I hope to continue
in the manner we have started, building upon our
experience, responding to our Client's aspirations,
maintaining close links to domestic and residential
architecture whilst slowly expanding into other
areas of architecture and construction; leisure,
health, arts, education and commerce.
