Rochmankowski Architecture + Design

BRAIDS PAVILLION

We were asked to remodel the interior of a terraced home and build a Kitchen and Utility Room extension to the rear despite the fact that there was no rear garden! The Clients negotiated over many months to obtain consent from all appropriate parties so that we could extend into the end the rear access lane immediately adjacent to their home.

Initially envisaged as an independent timber 'hut' with a surrounding raised deck, the design was compromised by the necessity to build a fire-proof 'shed' for a neighbour to replace one demolished by the construction. This took the form of the rounded projection built in concrete.

The finished project has proved extremely successful in accommodating the requirements of a young family within the constraints of their existing home.
